The Crozier Fire started on 8/7 at approximately 11pm and within a few hours burned 5 acres. At 10am the fire was 181 acres. The fire started to spread yesterday and continued to burn all day.
The fire took off and started jumping containment lines in the area. A fire tornado was seen in the flames which quickly torched massive trees. (Video of the firenado included). Hot shot crews from all over California were assisting with putting out the fire and stopping it from spreading, they also lit back burns with drip torches to burn up the fuel before the bulk of the fire reached it. Crews will be working all night to keep the fire from jumping containment line. Aircraft’s were picking up water from local lakes to assist in stopping the spread. 113 engines, 17 water tenders, 12 helicopters, 31 hand crews, 13 dozers are assigned for a total of 1,309 personnel.

Animal evacuation update from El Dorado County Sheriff’s: If you have been displaced by a Crozier Fire Emergency Evacuation Order (this is not for properties under an Evacuation Warning) and need a place to shelter your animals, please see the following information: Animals big and small are all welcome. There is not a limit to the number of animals per property allowed at the shelter. The shelter is staffed between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. If you need assistance after normal operating hours, please call 530-621-5795.
