The Kern County Fire Department responded to a reported vegetation fire at 2:21pm in Rosamond in the area of 80th West and Holiday Ave. They arrived on scene to find multiple fires in the brush alongside the roadway. The fire quickly spread due to the strong winds in the area. Evacuation warnings were sent out via Red Kern Emergency System notifying residents to be prepared to leave in a hurry. Firefighters chased a quick moving fire that was moving in all directions due to the strong winds. La County Fire Department and US Airforce Fire Department assisted with mutual aid to help stop the fast moving fire. Multiple helicopters and planes were attacking the fire from the air with water drops. The fire was held at 398 acres with 1 structure was lost, and no injuries were reported.
